Robert Boyle’s experimental styleand Ian Hacking’s new experimentalism. A comparative study in philosophy and method

In the article Robert Boyle’s experimental style and Ian Hacking’s new experimentalism are compared. The first part presents selected topics of Robert Boyle’s epistemology that illustrate his point of view on the rules of experimental practice. On the other hand Hacking’s philosophy of experiment is the original recognition of contemporary laboratory style. In the light of this comparison we can talk about the stable development of laboratory science on the basis of methodological principles adopted by Boyle in the 18th century.
