Abstract

This article attempts to analyze Taras Shevchenko’s intimate love poetry in the context of his psychological and symbolic biography. In his love poems, the archetypal figure of the Great Mother, which maintains the balance of spiritual values in the area of sacred/profane dominates the images of beloved women. That is why ideal lyrical heroines are consistently contrasted with demonic ones.
