Abstrakt

The article lists and describes selected features of oral transmission as preserved in the Mahāvastu – a Buddhist Hybrid Sanskrit biography of the Buddha belonging to the Vinayapitaka of the Mahāsāmghika-Lokottaravādins: the principle of waxing syllables, recurrent formulaic phrases, and repetitions.
