The article discusses the correspondence between Carl Gotthard Langhans and Prince Franz Philipp Adrian von Hatzfeld during the journey of this Wroclaw architect to Italy. Five preserved letters of the architect are in the collection of the State Archive in Wroclaw. The Italian journey took place at the turn of 1768 and 1769 and was connected with the realization of the classicist Hatfzled Palace, which had been erected in Wroclaw since 1764. Langhans’ letters document the phases of the journey, contain information about the places visited and the items of furnishings of the palace ordered in Italy. Despite their briefness, they are a unique evidence of the artistic culture of the second half of the 18th century.
