Abstract

On the basis of the preserved archival materials, a hoard is reconstructed that had been found in 1896 or 1897 in Gorzów Śląski near the railway station and was not preserved to this day. Official letters and documents make it possible to establish (in general terms) the contents of the hoard and the clay vessel in which it was found, to examine in detail seven gold coins, as well as to determine the time of their hiding after 1431. The coins from the hoard are then placed in the context of the issue and circulation of silver and gold money in Europe as well as in the context of Gorzów Śląski’s history.
