The impact of globalization on the shape of the modern welfare state
The issue of globalization and the welfare state is of great interest for sociologists, economists, political scientists, and occupies an increasingly important position in the social sciences.

In the article I would like to address only a small fragment of this huge research area and focus, based on the reports of the European Commission, Eurostat 2012 and 2013 and the OECD in 2008, on the social and economic situation in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Germany.
