Articles
The article aims to show the wide range of methods for designing modern architectural surfaces using painting techniques, and can also be a contribution to the discussion about cooperation between architects and artists. It includes a description of Jacek Jarczewski’s previously unpublished methods of combining artistic and building techniques and materials, with particular emphasis on the prefabrication of painting works for public spaces. It is based on literature research and on an analysis of Wroclaw implementations and experimental endeavours from the Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw.
As a result, an overview is presented of painterly methods of designing architectural surfaces, the potential of which enables a fusion of modern architecture with the latest trends in contemporary art. The coupling of tradition and unconventionality, which is characteristic of the Wroclaw artistic community, can pave the way for new directions in architectural design.
