Ernesto Giménez Caballero in the time of civil war: the sacrifice of an intellectual
Ernesto Giménez Caballero, the intellectual originator of Spanish fascism, understood this movement as a nationalistic culmination of liberal thought. The republican experience led him however to move away from the above mentioned guidelines and to get closer to a more reactionary tradition. This process and also the obsession concerning the political organization that was based on one person’s dictatorship is seen in his three brochures edited during the civil war. They are analyzed in the following article in the light of the mentioned ideological evolution of their author.
