Juwenalis Charkiewicz – a Pole in Spain in 1768

Juwenalis Charkiewicz, in his Diary of the Spanish trip from Vilnius to the town of Valencia, tells the story of his adventures and impressions from Spain. He was a Lithuanian-born monk of the Bernardine Order who traveled as far as Spanish Valencia to participate in the Capitulum Generale of the Order of Friars Minor of Saint Francis in 1768. This 18^th century text can be included into a wide panorama of travel books and Polish travelers’ diaries.
