A sense of safety in the light of selected sociological analysis

Abstract

The article addresses the theoretical importance of the category of safety and a sense of safety in sociology. These concepts are used in theories referring to different levels of social reality. The paper contains a brief discussion on (a) implications of U. Beck’s concept of the ‘risk society’; (b) usage of these concepts as a link between individual actions and social system attributes in M. Marody’s concep-tion; (c) as constructs useful in characterizing certain aspects of the interaction order by E. Goffman.
