How to create a typology of public speeches of politicians
The article aims to construct a typology of public speeches of politicians in contemporary Polish reality. Its argument rests on the analysis of the basic components of a communication event such as sender, recipient, other participants, transmission channel, aim, theme, and place. The analysis focuses on the spoken message and argues the significance of the factors in question in shaping the identity of a given communication form in public discourse. In the author’s view, the proposed typology encompasses certain types of speech, typical of present-day public discourse. The author also notes the characteristic crisscrossing of type of public speech and journalist genres.
