The expression of emotions and political correctness
The author treats political correctness as a particular part of the language etiquette. She attempts to demonstrate it on the example of the politicians’ utterances and, therefore, she analyzes the utterances of the members of the Parliament and the members of the town council. The analysis proves that the expression of negative emotions does not cause breaking of the principles of the political correctness. The utterances, however, which offend the receiver, are a taboo. Breaking of the taboo leads to the social sanctions.
