Connotation and the categorization problems
The paper discusses the development of the concept connotation as used in modern semantic studies. The paper focuses on the following issues: i connotation as “seeds of dissent” against the structuralist method, ii toward a full-fledged cognitive view of meaning, iii the prototype-based structure of meaning, iv the internal motivation for connotative features, v connotation and textrelated profiling processes.
