The article is the author’s consecutive attempt at presenting the theory of linguistic politeness, quoting the best-known concepts from the Anglo-Saxon cultural circle R. Lakoff, G. Leach, P. Brown, P. Levinson, R. i S. Scollon as well as Polish K. Ożóg, M. Marcjanik.
