INFORMATION POLICY OBLIGATIONS OF OPEN PENSION FUNDS
The analysis provides a review of the open pension funds’ [OFE] information policy. The main focus is put on OFE duties connected with obligation to publish an information prospectus, obligation to provide information on the structure of pension fund assets, obligation to provide current information on the activities and financial position of OFE to the news agency. The analysis highlighted a problem of low insurance awareness of potential members of OFE and the risk of information overload. On the one hand, an average citizen has access to a very large amount of detailed information on the operation and activities of any open pension fund, and any pension company. On the other hand, there is lack of a single, simple document indicating the opportunities and threats of accumulating pension capital in OFE. In the author’s opinion OFE, just like UCITS funds, should publish Key Investor Information Document. This two-page document presents the basic and most important data on a given fund and its investment activities. Access to this document for OFE customers would allow instant and easy comparison of the funds’ performance and quality of their service.
