No. 2(72) (2024): “Cubisme mondial”? Its idioms and revisions outside the centre

Published: 2024-10-07

The four texts presented in the thematic part of this issue, edited by Dr Lidia Głuchowska, arose from a conference she organised and other pursuits in which she has been involved in recent years. They address manifestations of cubism in unexpected places, such as the northern coastline of the Baltic Sea (Sweden – Margareta Wallin Wictorin, Finland – Timo Huusko) and the western shores of the Atlantic Ocean (Latin America – Elena O’Neill, Maria Frick, United States – Herbert R. Hartel, Jr.).

In the second part of the issue, Agata Kubala offers an in-depth examination of the neo-Greek architecture for the mausoleum of the Von Hoym family in Brzeg Dolny, Agnieszka Zabłocka-Kos extensively reviews a recent monumental study of the urbanist history of Prague’s historic centre between 1830 and 1970, and Anna Markowska presents a report from a conference in Lisbon where new approaches to art, its functions and functioning were explored.
