Abstrakt

Peace and “Holy peace.” Reflections on the contemporary idea of peace and the related issues

The article examines the problem of the contemporary idea of peace. The question is analyzed in the light of the thought of Immanuel Kant. The author proves that the Kantian philosophy is ambiguous in that respect — on the one hand, it postulates the Enlightenment idea of peace; on the other hand, it is strongly informed by the Christian teachings about the original sin and evil. The contemporary idea of peace is probed in the context of the critique of both Enlightenment and globalization (e.g. Peter Sloterdijk), and then it is examined in the perspective of historiosophy (Kant and the European thought) as well as eschatology (Vladimir Solovyov).
