Abstrakt

On thefts in Polish libraries at the turn of the 21st century

The article examines the problem of book thefts in Poland between the 1980s and the present. The author discusses offences like theft, smuggling and handling of stolen goods in libraries and other institutions owning book collections. She raises the need for up-to-date research into protection of libraries against crime as well as actions aimed at improving the level of this protection.
