Modernism versus the avant-garde art in 20th century Spanish poetry

This study aims to design a literary model of modernism’s process in Spanish 20th-Century Poetry considering the avant-garde’s phenomena. The historical-literary process in Spain has got the periods generally respected which divide it into the generations of 1898, of 1914 or 1927 but some researchers and critics question that division and see in those periods internally coherents and well described as some idealizations but not the objective facts of the literary process. The present study pretends to observe the Spanish poetry of the three initial decades of the 20th century not through the known generations but as an unique phenomenon that belongs to the Modernism, that I interpret in its wide meaning as an intellectual and artistic formation that starts in the late 19th century and persist till the sixth decade of the 20th century. That’s why the principal theory of this work says that the avant-garde’s phenomena are not contrary to the modern projects but are their strongest consequence.
