Abstract

The objective of this research is to carry out a comparative study of Spanish and Polish nouns that tend to be used in the plural. These do not constitute a homogeneous group and, for this reason, in the first stage certain questions are presented, on the one hand, to the grammatical category of number, and, on the other hand, to the term pluralia tantum. These include names that lack the singular number as well as those that are preferably used in the plural. In the second stage of this research, a comparative study of the Spanish and Polish pluralia tantum is carried out. The lexical classes in which it is possible to find this type of nouns are distinguished, and certain differences and similarities in their functioning between Spanish and Polish are indicated.
