Abstract

Identification parade is one of the most important and frequently carried out proceedings for identifying offenders in the Polish investigative practice. However, it is affected by serious shortcomings at the stage of its organisation and during the evaluation of its results. The aim of this article is to indicate the sources of these problems, which are largely systemic and in urgent need of change. The implementation of the postulates presented would undoubtedly serve to protect the wrongly accused from the impact of false identifications. This takes on particular importance in the case of an appearance, as misidentification by witnesses is a major cause for miscarriages of justice.
