Abstrakt

THE RIGHT TO THE FREE ASSISTANCE OF AN INTERPRETER IN CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS. SELECTED ISSUES

The right to the free assistance of an interpreter in criminal proceedings is permissible for a group named in the doctrine as retaining the right to afair trial. For each accused involved in judicial proceedings conducted in an unfamiliar language, above all, this service is the foundation for the rights of defense.
The purpose of this article is to present key issues related to the right to take advantage of the free assistance of an interpreter in criminal proceedings. In the first part, the author outlines the circle of persons to whom the analyzed permission is granted. Secondly, the scope of activities that require the participation of an interpreter is discussed. In the last part some additional guarantees are indicated, specifically ones associated with the right to use the assistance of an interpreter, such as costless translation or quality control.
