Abstract

The aim of the article is to present changes in the model of local government in France. In the concept of local self-government, an important role is played by various form of intercommunal cooperation in metropolitan areas. Metropolitan areas are a complex structure with municipalities and departments. The creation of large spatial and economic structures is a response to the progress of civilization and the need to improve the activity of local government.
