Abstract

The aim of the considerations presented in this article is to analyze the reforms of higher education in selected European countries from a historical perspective in order to identify solutions and practices in the field of management, organization, financing and integration processes of universities. The material is analyzed from the perspective of the corporatization of universities and elements of managerialism. The main conclusion of the analysis is related to the postulate of implementing private-sector practices with the aim of improving the functioning of the public sector. This belief in some countries has led to interventions that have resulted in marketization and focus on efficiency, performance, accountability and institutional autonomy of universities.
