Abstract

In the study, the author discusses changes in the curricula and research in the field of traditio-nally defined Romance philology which have occurred in Poland over the last seventy years. The author’s intention is to evidence that these changes have been evolutionary and remain in connection to the given historical context of the country, the economic and political transformations as well as the requirements of the job market. The study is illustrated with experiences from the professional lives of three generations of Romanicists: the author’s, her mother’s and her daughter’s.
