HISTORY OF CHILDHOOD — HISTORY OF CINEMA
History of childhood as a New humanistic discipline cannot omit the topic of cinema and its influence on growing up generations. It has to, however, reach for some testimonies of people coming from the urban environments, proletarian as well as townspeople’s ones. This is because the 20th century marked itself in the memory of young generations not only by the trauma of the two world wars and two totalitarianisms, but also by joy of taking part in many different easily accessible visual entertainments like panopticon, peep-show, cinema and television. Their fascination with cinema expressed in memoir literature registers all the phases of developments of the 10th Muse: silent movies, sound cinema, film chronicles, as well as the cult of film stars, the atmosphere of spectacle and inspired by the contents of watched story ― amusement behaviours and attitudes. Contemporary access to cameras for family use opens new possibilities for the juveniles: each child can become a film creator.
