Abstrakt

Democracy and its ontological and communication conditions

The article focuses on the relation between communication and ontological conditions of democracy. Following Latour, the author claims that contemporary democracy has to be analysed as a form of „democracy of things” — Dingpolitik. The author concentrates on the analysis of the material basis and conditions of democracy. The article demonstrates relations between democracy, ontology and the form of the dominant communication. The author claims that theories of democracy must take into account the dialectical interplay between communication technologies and the form of „ontological politics” A. Mol and J. Law inseparably intertwined with them.
