The three volume monograph of Antoni Kamiński Mikhail Bakunin. The life and work, in terms of greatness, has no equal in terms of conceptual, editorial, bibliographical, documentary, critical and research aspects; it is an unprecedented work in the history of Polish research on ideas in Russia. In the book the revolutionist’s biography gives way to thorough analysis of his views. Kamiński presents the reception of Bakunin’s ideas in a global perspective. The researcher does not exercise hagiography, he combines a balanced sympathy for the subject of his work with critical scientific perspective. On the formal side the monograph has a clear layout and clear structure, clear style of expression, comprenensive way of presenting issues and attention to aesthetic expression.
