Father-killing and a biased diagnosis of the state and determinantsof the development of ontology in Poland
The paper presents a subjective diagnosis of the state of development of ontology in Poland, as well as proposals of actions which may contribute to the intensification of ontological research in Poland. I point out the strengths of Polish ontology, but also some of its imperfections. As a weakness, I consider there to be too much focused on conservative and safe historical research and a lack of contact with modern science in particular with the strict and natural sciences. As a strength, I consider there that there is a relatively large group of Polish philosophers and scholars working creatively in ontology. I mention almost 30 important achievements and contributions of Polish ontology. I point out three Polish organizational initiatives: the Copernicus Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, the Laboratory for AgriFood Ontology and the International Center for Formal Ontology. I recommend creating a virtual base of Polish ontology; to publish the papers in leading international journals; a return to classic ontological issues, and not restricting ontological methods of analytic ontology; setting up a mentoring process due to the mentor-student relationship crisis; the abolition of non-professional Polish philosophical journals and the dissemination of an international scientific interchange internships, visits, postdocs and so on at every stage of an academic career.
