A Moral Significance of Time

The paper is an argument in favour of a view according to which time is morally significant. The significance becomes apparent when an ethical and economic reflection are seen in a unified perspective. The author seeks such a perspective within the Marx’s theory of value based on work. The time spent on work constitutes for Marx an economic value. The latter, according to the present author, is a significant premise of doing what is good. The paper is also an attempt to formulate an outline of the “ethics of time”. Among its postulates is one which may be considered as a specific version of the Occam’s Razor: one should not take advantage of someone else’s time beyond necessity.
