This article aims to present some tools of cognitive linguistics (Langacker, 1987) introduced in translation studies by Tabakowska (1993) as instruments for the literary analysis. Lorca’s imagery poses a particular challenge for translators. For this reason, its elements—the perspective, the
prominent elements of the visualized scene, the plasticity of the image achieved by using a certain expression or grammatical structure—seem to be an excellent testing-ground for cognitive analysis and proof of its great utility in the first stage of the translation process.
