Abstract

This article analyzes the growing presence of Lorquian intertexts in the last films by Pedro Almodóvar in the context of the rising far-right in Spanish politics and institutions. While Almodóvar’s interest in historical memory and on the visibility of the problem of the desaparecidos has become more and more explicit, his films, paradoxically, don’t contribute to the overcoming of the whitewashing, the depoliticization and the commodification of the Lorquian signifier, whose historical truth still remains a taboo subject.
