Marlena Krupa-Adamczyk

Marlena Krupa-Adamczyk – hispanist. She works at the Department of Romance Philology at the University of Wrocław. In her research activity, she focuses on the poetry of the Golden Age, studying, among others, its intertextual relations with contemporary poetry. On the horizon of her interests is also ascetic-mystical literature and in particular the work of the Spanish mystics: San Juan de la Cruz and Santa Teresa de Ávila. She is the author of two monographs: Duch i litera. Liryczna ekspresja mistycznej drogi świętego Jana od Krzyża w polskich przekładach (2011) and W poszukiwaniu numinosum. Jan od Krzyża w polskiej kulturze XX (2020).

Ewa Kulak

Ewa Krystyna Kulak – hispanist, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Romance Studies of the University of Wrocław. Her research focuses on the analysis of litterary work as document of social and intellectual life. Her interests include the Spanish litterature of 16th-19th centuries and French litterature of 18th and 19th centuries. She is the author of monographs Owoce hesperyjskich ogrodów. Obraz literatur Półwyspu Iberyjskiego w polskich wydawnictwach informacyjnych i popularnonaukowych (2002) and Kształtowanie się poczucia tożsamości Katalończyków na podstawie piśmiennictwa okresu odrodzenia kulturalnego i narodowego (XIX w. – początek XX w.) (2016).

José Luis Losada Palenzuela

José Luis Losada Palenzuela is Assistant Professor at the Institute of Romance Studies of the University of Wrocław. He obtained his PhD from the University of Valladolid (2008) with a thesis on Arthur Schopenhauer's translations of the works of the Baroque moralist and Spanish writer Baltasar Gracián.

His interests in research and teaching include the Spanish Golden Age Literature, Comparative literature, and Digital Humanities. He is a member of the international research team Proteo, studying Spanish Baroque theater, and of the Digital Humanities Lab at the University of Wroclaw.

Łukasz Smuga

Łukasz Smuga holds a PhD in Spanish Literature (2014) from the University of Wrocław, where he currently works as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Romance Studies. Between 2012-2014 he taught courses on Polish language and literature at the Complutense University of Madrid. His research interests include Spanish contemporary narrative, gender and queer studies, affect theory, and comparative literature. He is the author of the book Queer Rebels: Rewriting Literary Traditions in Contemporary Spanish Novels (Routledge, 2022), Polish edition: Wbrew naturze i kulturze. O odmienności w hiszpańskiej prozie homoerotycznej na przełomie XX i XXI wieku (Universitas, 2016). Currently he is a member of two research groups: MASDIME “Memorias de las masculinidades disidentes en España e Hispanoamérica” (PID2019-106083GB-I00) and CALITHI “Literatura y capitalismo en las culturas hispánicas”.

Aleksander Trojanowski

Aleksander Trojanowski is Assistant Professor at the Institute of Romance Studies of the University of Wrocław. He obtained his PhD from the University of Wrocław (2020) with a thesis on Roberto Bolaño’s narrative technique. Beforehand, he worked at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2016-2017) teaching courses on Polish language and culture.

His investigation concerns new Hispano-American narrative, especially in the context of narratology. He is also a poet and translator. In 2022 he translated into Polish Nicanor Parra’s poems. As a researcher he is the author of the monograph El arte de la desorientación: humor, ambigüedad y juego en la narrativa de Roberto Bolaño (Wrocław, 2021).

Justyna Wesoła

Justyna Wesoła is a hispanist, PhD in Humanities in the field of Linguistics of the University of Wrocław (2006). Since 2005 she has been working in the Department of Romance Philology at her alma mater. In the years 2006-2018 she worked also at the Philological School of Higher Education in Wrocław. She is the author of the monograph Hiszpańskie wykrzykniki w polskiej praktyce przekładowej ['Spanish interjections in Polish translations'] (2010) and a set of articles dedicated to the problems of translation. Her research interests include the literary translation, the literary relations between Poland and Spain, and the parallels and contrasts between Spanish and Polish languages. 

Justyna Ziarkowska

Justyna Ziarkowska, polish hispanist, literary scholar, conducts research in Spanish literature and comparative literature in the 20th and 21st centuries. She is the author of five original books and dozens of scientific publications in national and foreign journals. Her most important works concerned Surrealism in Spanish poetry (Ucieczka do głębi. O surrealizmie w literaturze hiszpańskiej, Wrocław, 2010, https://linkd.pl/247cp) and the works of Federico García Lorca (a book in in the prestigious Polish series "National Library" published by Ossolineum, Federico García Lorca, Wiersze i wykłady, Wrocław, 2019, https://wydawnictwo.ossolineum.pl/products/wiersze-i-wyklady-93). Scholarship holder of the Spanish government several times, promoter of two doctorates and vice-dean for science and international cooperation of Faculty of Letters (University of Wrocław), university professor at Department of Iberian Studies, CALITHI (Capitalismo y literatura en las culturas hispánicas, https://tiny.pl/wcccs) Research Group Member. Her research interests focus on twentieth-century avant-garde poetry, the ethical turn in the latest Spanish novel and the agency of literature and its impact on shaping reality.
