Social dimensions of sustainable development of the Central and Eastern Europe
The idea of sustainable development rests on three pillars: economic, social and environmental. In the central planning economy economic results were paramount, achieved even at the expense of environment protection. Social sphere was tightly connected with manufacturing process. The authors analyse the conditions of system changes determining the potential for sustainable development in the Central and Eastern Europe and characterise the conditions facilitating the implementation of the idea of socially sustainable development.
