Abstrakt

Identity — a key, a pick, or a stick? Ukrainian discourses on national identity, moral crisis, and patriotism between 1991 and 2015

The proposed article is devoted to the Ukrainian discourses on social phenomena related to cultural and national identity. The author illustrates the changing meaning of the concept of national identity and analyses the views of Ukrainian scientific and creative elites on the process of identity formation and on the choices Ukrainians have made during the last two decades of independence. The author tries to reconstruct the overall picture of Ukrainian discourses on national identity between 1991 and 2015 by discovering the main themes and rhetorical strategies of expression represented by well-known intellectuals. Moreover, she shows the importance of rethinking the role of elites in overcoming the crisis of national identity and analyses the hazards of nation-centric thinking.

Ідентичність — ключ, рятівна відмичка чи кийок? Українські дискусії про національну ідентичність, моральну кризу та патріотизм у 1991–2015 рр

В статті йдеться про українські дискусії довкола суспільних явищ, пов’язаних з культурно-національною ідентичністю; показані також спроби осмислення самого поняття національної тотожності. Аналізуються погляди представників української наукової та творчої еліти на процес формування автоідентифікаційних виборів українців упродовж пер­шого двадцятип’ятиліття незалежності України. З’ясовуючи основні теми та риторичні стратегії висловлювань відомих інтелектуалів, авторка намагається реконструювати загальну картину українського ідентичнісного дискурсу в 1991–2015 рр. Розкриваються як передумови істотної ролі еліти в подоланні кризи національної ідентичності, так і пастки націєцентричного мис­лення.
