Abstract

Reading sexploitation through the most important socio-political contexts of the 1960s, the article shows the myriad of meanings that arise at the intersection of the threat of censorship, the low cultural status of these movies and the language based on the tension between manifestation of the sexual revolution and the moral panic that came with it. The author looks for the value of these cheap, poorly made productions by using the theory of sexual mimetic aspects to show the way in which these movies affected viewers. In this take, sexploitation becomes a portrait of the decade of cultural transformation of US society.
