Causes of unemployment according to the representatives of the Austrian School of Economics

This article is an attempt to analyse causes of unemployment in political and economic thought according to the representatives of the Austrian School of Economics — one of the most influential and incisive economic schools in the 20th century. The representatives of ASE, such as Murray Rothbard, Ludwig von Mises or Hans Hermann Hoppe with their methodological individualism and logical approach were against socialism and interventionism. In the article I attempt to deal with the question whether, according to ASE the causes of unemployment are free market or state; entrepreneurs or trade unions; individual choices, business cycle or welfare benefits? Academic achievements of the Austrian School of Economics are an important contribution to the economic policy debate over the last hundred years.
