The Caucasus in the world economic system in the last thirty years of the 19th century and early 20th century
The article is an analysis of the expansion of the Caucasus’ international economic ties, including the structure of its exports/imports as well as the main trade partners. The authors stress the special role played by foreign capital in the industrial development of the Caucasus, especially of the oil industry in Baku and the mining industry. Foreign investments brought with them new technologies and modern production organisation methods to the region.
