Abstract

Even though mass media around the world have been digitized, radio in Poland still remains analogue. Platforms such as analogue television have long been considered obsolete. Nevertheless, the subject of digitization of radio broadcasting is still a controversial topic in the media environment and public knowledge about it is limited.

The implementation of radio digitization is associated with problems that every country needs to deal with, regardless of the system and market structure. Difficulties such as the cost of the simulcast, limited knowledge and reluctance to use the standard by large commercial broadcasters occurred also in other European countries. Based on the observation of the chronology of changes introduced abroad, it is possible to determine the actions that should be taken in Poland to carry out the process of implementing digital technology efficiently.
