The paper is devoted to two issues. The first is an analysis of the operation of the Wikileaks website in the context of the mass communication theory: does Wikileaks bring a new quality to the mass communication theory or can its operation be presented within the existing theoretical framework? The other issue discussed by the author is the hypothesis according to which Wikileaks or, more broadly, social media and other new communication technologies signifies a decline of traditional journalism.
