Abstrakt

Der Beitrag interpretiert die Phaidros-Passage Platons unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der McLuhanschen Unterscheidung in ,kühle’ und ,heiße’ Medien. Er will zu einer Präzisierung des Kontextes der Wirksamkeit von Platons theoretischer Analyse beitragen und erklären, warum PlatonsDiktum zwar immer wieder aufgegriffen und als korrekt erlebt wurde, ansonsten aber folgenlos blieb.

Platon’s Phaidros text passage and the media theory of Marshall McLuhans

This article tries to deliver an interpretation of Platon’s Phaidros text passage in regard of McLuhan’s distinction between ‘cool’ and ‘hot’ media, thus contributing to render more precisely Platon’s theoretical analysis and to explain why Platon’s assumption is regularily quoted but nevertheless had largely no results and effects.
