Second-hand: A thing between new and old life
The article presents the issue of second-hand clothes and their lives in a store space. The aim is to show the perspective of things, not their users, so there is an attempt to make a typology of second-hand clothes by qualities which are located in them. Marek Krajewski’s relational concept of participation in culture, because of its including character — both humans and things — in the network of relations, allows us not only to ask questions about things’ life but also to present the way of choosing them by senses. However, their space’s impurity can be shown in symbolic order, which is why second-hand shops can be surely treated as a stop in their further, cyclic life.
