The Work-Life-Balance Directive includes legal instruments which enable a more equal share of caring responsibilities and equal opportunities in the labour market. This issue is critical in the context of mothers who encounter problems in marrying family duties with professional ones, which results in withdrawal from work. In the article, the author refers, among other, to the possibility of integrating parental leave with work, taking into account the parents of a child diagnosed with a severe and irreversible disability or an incurable life-threatening disease, which arose during the prenatal period of a child’s development or during childbirth.
