Abstrakt

The article provides an analysis of the differences in understanding the term “social entrepreneurship” in Poland and abroad. It argues that the lack of a sharp definition of this term, a clear distinction of it from other entities within the frame of social economy, and its separate legal form recognised in the country’s law, are limiting factors to a development of this type of activity. They prevent the representatives of different sectors from involvement in social entrepreneurship and as a result from benefitting from it. This article displays the avenues of a possible collaboration between social enterprises and other stakeholders. It offers recommendations to investors, philanthropists and corporations, as well as lawmakers to remove the formal and legal obstacles so that this model can thrive in Poland like it does in other countries.
