Volume 34 of Neerlandica Wratislaviensia, edited by dr. Agata Kowalska-Szubert and dr. Zuzanna Czerwonka-Wajda, contains an overview of problem articles in linguistics, written by authors associated with Dutch studies in Central Europe. The main thrust of the volume is the questions of how language functions and to what extent this functioning can be studied within the framework of linguistics - primarily in relation to the Dutch language. The research perspectives adopted by the authors are diverse: the volume includes analyses of grammatical, comparative, historical and philosophical issues, as well as problems of multilingualism in the broadest sense. Volume 34 is therefore a very good reflection of the broad palette of Dutch linguistic research and shows how lively and forward-looking this field is.

The volume is supplemented by review articles, presenting readers books published in recent years which are important for European Dutch studies.
