Herinnering, kennisse en verwoording: momenten van inzicht in enkele oude Nederlandse teksten
In this article I analyze three medieval texts from the Netherlands: Beatrijs, Mariken van Nieumeghen and Den Spyeghel der Salicheyt van Elckerlijc. The two first texts are mirrored in the last one; all three texts are bound together with a common formula for the purgation of soul: Sin — Insight — Expression — Salvation. Firstly, I investigate, how this formula is embedded in these texts and which motifs it incorporates. Then I ‘set these texts free’ — and present in the conclusion a deep-structure-model of medieval views on human psychology.
