Abstract

In the coming years, due to the energy transformation in Poland, the district heating sector will face the challenge of reducing the emissivity of the heat produced. One of the to this problem solutions is the construction of small modular reactors that can replace the current generation units in a zero-emission manner. In the present article, the author analyzes strategic documents that are the basis for the implementation of nuclear energy in Poland. Moreover, the applied comparative legal method has enabled the author to examine the legal status of small modular reactors in the Polish nuclear energy law, and to formulate de lege ferenda postulates with regard to the legal aspects of the development of this technology in the future.
