Visual poetics of woman’s body in Alexander Blok’s poetry and the medieval cannon of beauty

In the article Visual poetics of woman’s body in Alexander Blok’s poetry and the medieval cannon of beauty by Svetlana Titarenko, the body is considered as an aesthetic subject, the sign of interaction between literature and art. Alexander Blok’s visual poetics is based on this interaction; the sign of the body is a symbolic code of visuality, which was created on the basis of the medieval cannon of beauty. This cannon formed Alexander Blok’s aesthetics under the influence of the medieval and Renaissance art. The principle of theurgy, which was elaborated by Vladimir Soloviev, affected Alexander Blok. According to the cannon the main principles of beauty are spirituality and transparence of the image.
